What to wear for Ascot 2019

Ascot 2019 will be the highlight of the racing and social calendar and will soon here. Scheduled for the 18th-22nd June 2019, it is known to be the most prestigious fashion event of the year, especially ladies day where people often plan outfits months in advance.

What do we think we will see at this year events?

When it comes to colour, warmer gentle tones, olives, greens, and dusky pinks creating a subtle yet sophisticated look rather than the bolder and the stand out tones such as the hot pinks, limes green that we have seen in previous years.

We love a long sleeved dress and they are so in for this season, it’s smart, practical and very on trend, and don’t forget the length, it must be to or below the knee. We think a long sleeve will be a popular choice this year, whether it’s tailored or more of a boho, floaty look.

In 2017 ladies were permitted to wear full a length jumpsuit, for 2019 a shorter jumpsuit is allowed, so culotte style, keeping it below the knee, a popular choice for this year I am sure.

Fascinators or hatinators for the Royal Ascot are also a must, again you must check your enclosures dress code for correct sizes. During 2018 we saw some big bold oversized hatinators, the bigger the better. This year we feel more people will opt for simplicity. Therefore not over fussing their Ascot fascinators or hatinators, keeping clean lines. A pillbox style fascinator will lend itself to this perfectly. They are easy to wear and give an incredible elegant finish to an outfit with a simple clutch bag to finish off the look that’s not too oversized.

We can’t wait to see what Ascot 2019 has in store for us.  If you are planning your outfit we would suggest not over thinking the outfit, an effortless look, keeping things simple yet not compromising on elegance and tradition.  However, a simple look can often take the most time to coordinate to get it right, easier said than done.
